Space Odyssey

Hello, hello! I’ve got a new card to share with you today that I created for the August 2021 Clever Dexter challenge. This month’s theme is to use a stencil and the optional color palette is white, navy, dusty blue, fuchsia, and sand.

For this card I used the Chicco space digital stamp set which was provided by the sponsor of the August 2021 Clever Dexter challenge, La casetta sullalbero di Chicca. I had so much fun coloring this set in with a variety of Copic markers primarily in the Cool Gray color family.

To create my starry outer space background I created my own stencil using the Sheer Circle Wreath die by Memory Box. I moved my handmade stencil all around my “sky” and filled in the circles at random with a white gel pen by Arteza.

This is what my outer space sky looked like when I was done. I decided to create a rounded planet shape for the foreground of the scene by tracing a cylindrical container using that same white gel pen and then covering with a mask made from full adhesive backed Post It notes.

After I created my background I used a stitched border die from Gina Marie Designs to create a bit of interest.

I then used the “you’re a star” sentiment stamp from the So Jelly stamp set by Lawn Fawn along with White Detail Embossing Powder by Hero Arts to add a fitting phrase along the lower portion of my card front.

Finally I adhered my panel to a white card base created from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest cardstock in 110lb weight before adding the rocket ship and the cute little space traveler whom I popped up on foam squares for dimension.

I hope that you’ll join us over for the August 2021 Clever Dexter challenge. I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!

Until next time,
